I have struggled with my weight most of my adulthood. I am a powerlifter and work out 5 days a week and I focus on a healthy/clean diet but have never been able to reach my goal weight. I am not obese but I felt I needed to lose about 20-30 pounds. I am also a Type II diabetic, have hypertension, and high cholesterol. No matter how much I worked out and ate healthy, I could not bring my numbers down or lose weight.
My husband had surgery in 2015 and did very well. After my labs were drawn in May, I decided that I needed to make a drastic change. I decided it was time to have the surgery. I has not been easy by any means. It is not a quick fix. For me, the pre op diet was the hardest part but after a few days, it gets easier. The physical part of my journey was pretty easy. Its the mental part that is difficult. I never realized how much my life revolves around food. Dr. Almanza gives a detailed diet plan to follow before and after surgery and it is imperative that you follow it to avoid complications. I am learning to replace eating with other things such as meditation, physical activity, and learning new hobbies.
Weightloss Agents, Dr. Almanza, and the staff are there to help you from the start. Everyone is e very helpful and answers all of my questions thoroughly and in a timely manner, even after surgery. The hospital is very clean and you are provided with everything you might need. Dr. Almanza and the staff are very professional
My experience was very positive and I am excited to continue this journey. If you are unsure whether you are ready, I can tell you that it is difficult but it is worth it. When I scheduled my surgery, I was 170 pounds. I fought for many years to get below 160 pounds. This morning, 3 weeks post op, I weighed 151 pounds. In addition, I was taken off two of my diabetes medications and the other was decreased by 75%. I can't wait to see what the future holds for me!
